More Quail

Quail - 2 singing (1 adjacent to Blatchington Golf Course and 1 opposite the west end of Frog Firle valley).

Yet another quiet morning with an increased northerly breeze. Main highlight was a 'croaking' Nightingale in the gap. Supporting cast consisted of 38 Whitethroats; 16 Willow Warblers; 4 Reed Warblers; 2 Lesser Whitethroats and a Blackcap.

Seaford Head 26/7/11

Much better this morning with totols of 6 Crossbills flying east; 60 Whitethroats; 15 Willow Warblers; 6 Lesser Whitethroats; 5 Reed Warblers; 5 Blackcaps; 1 Garden Warbler and our first Wheatear of the autumn.

Seaford Head 25/7/11

A much quieter morning compared to yesterday. Bids seen were 38 Whitethroats; 4 Lesser Whitethroats; 8 Willow Warblers; 2 Reed Warblers; 4 Blackcaps; singles of Sedge and Garden Warbler; 60+ Swallows; 10 Sand Martins and surprisingly a Yellow Wagtail flew over.

Seaford Head 24/7/11

My first visit to the patch this morning for the autumn. Totals were 3 Sedge Warblers, 3 Reed Warblers, 5 Willow Warblers, 1 Garden Warbler, 37 Whitethroats, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 1 Blackcap and a couple of Sand Martins.

Seaford Downs 23/7/11

A nice walk with Dad this morning at the back of Seaford. The highlight were hearing 4 Quail. Whilst walking up to get close to one of the singing Quail, we inadvertantly flushed a Quail from under our feet.

Butterflies included fresh Adonis Blue, Brown Argus, Walls and a Small Copper.

Ashdown Forest 10/7/11

Immature male Black Darter






Small Red Damselfly

Also a Brlliant Emerald, Golden-ringed Dragonfly, Brown Hawker, Emperors, Azure and Large Red Damselflies were seen.
