Sri Lanka - Day 11 - 12/12/15

Nuwara Eliya, Bomuruelle & Colombo

We were in position ready for the Whistling Thrush at first light but again only got flight views, but in better light it was at least an improvement from a few days ago. We then searched for the endemic sub species of Mountain Hawk Eagle, and succeeded by having perched views. A stunning bird and this completed our 'wanted list'. Unfortunately the rest of the day was spent driving to Colombo ready for our morning flight. It would've been nice to have birded a couple of sites along the way but it seems our guide wanted to go home and see his family. In all honesty he worked very hard and deserved it. So we got dropped off in a shanty hotel and said our farewells to Chaminda. The rest of the night was spent moaning about the accommodation and reflecting on a very successful trip.
