Uganda - Day 3 19/6/16

A little tour of Kampala city was had as we headed north for the first time. Once out of the city's suburbs a few brief stops were had. At one some young kids were very interested in what we were doing and were pleased to have their photo taken. One of the highlights in the morning was a Hartlaub's Marsh Widowbird, a decent record on the edge of their zone. Lunch was taken in the middle of nowhere at a very nice restaurant with a large garden that inevitably produced a few nice birds including a white-morph African Paradise Flycatcher. We kept on tracking north seeing a few South Sudanese people trying to sell us some tat. Eventually we arrived at Masindi and turned off towards Budongo to our Eco-lodge in the middle of the forest. There was a bit of light left that enabled us to see a singing Chocolate-backed Kingfisher high in the trees. The lodge was very nice but slightly odd was being given a hot water bottle when the temperature was easily 20 Celsius. A long day in the car today so looking forward to a day in the forest tomorrow.
